CBI Seizes Servers for Forensic Examination in Primary Teacher Recruitment Test Case
CBI Seizes Servers and Electronic Devices for Forensic Examination in OMR Data Retrieval Case
In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the destruction of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets used in the recruitment test of primary teachers for government schools in West Bengal, CBI officials have seized servers and other electronic devices from the office of S Basu & Company for forensic examination.
S Basu & Company, the outsourced agency responsible for providing and preserving the OMR sheets, came under scrutiny after initial evidence of data erasure was found during search operations by the CBI and software experts. The investigating officials decided to seize the servers and electronic devices to gather more evidence.
The recovery of OMR data is crucial for the central agency as these sheets are vital evidence of irregularities in the school job recruitment case. The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) had previously informed the Calcutta High Court that the OMR data was destroyed on the instructions of Trinamool Congress legislator and former Board president Manik Bhattacharya, making the retrieval of the data even more important for the CBI.
Following an instruction from the Calcutta High Court’s single-judge Bench of Justice Rajasekhar Mantha, the CBI is enlisting the help of independent cyber and software experts to assist in the data recovery process. Justice Mantha also directed WBBPE to bear the entire expenditure for hiring the services of the independent experts by the central agency.
The investigation into the OMR data retrieval case is ongoing, with the CBI working diligently to uncover the truth behind the destruction of crucial evidence in the primary teacher recruitment test. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
