New PAU Board Members: A Closer Look at Who’s Who

Ms Lynda Biribonwa Appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda

Ms Lynda Biribonwa, an experienced environment, health, and safety specialist, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU). Her appointment comes after the successful completion of Ms Jane N. Mulemwa’s second and final four-year term in May 2024.

Ms Biribonwa, who holds an MBA in Oil and Gas and an MSc in Environment and Development, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Board. With over twenty-three years of experience in environment, health, and safety at various levels, she is well-equipped to lead the PAU in its mandate of monitoring and regulating the oil and gas sector in Uganda.

Joining Ms Biribonwa on the new Board are six other members, including Mr Bernard Ongodia, a Geophysicist with extensive experience in Petroleum Exploration, Development, and Production, and Mr Adrian Bukenya, a seasoned professional with over twenty years of experience in the energy, infrastructure, and financial services sectors. The new Board members bring a diverse range of skills and expertise to the table, ensuring a well-rounded team to oversee the oil and gas industry in Uganda.

The inauguration and handing over of instruments of power to the new Board will take place on July 19th, 2024, at Amber House, Kampala. The Board will be tasked with steering the Regulatory Authority during a crucial time in the industry, as it experiences a ramp-up in activities during the development phase. Their role will be vital in creating lasting value for Uganda through effective monitoring and regulation of the oil and gas sector.
