Two individuals apprehended in investigation spanning across borders involving over 50 fraud cases

Two Arrested in Cross-Border Fraud Investigation Spanning Two Years

The PSNI and Gardai have made two arrests in connection with a widespread fraud investigation involving over 50 reports of fraudulent activity on both sides of the Irish border. The investigation, which spanned two years, was launched following complaints from victims who had sold goods but did not receive payment.

The PSNI conducted searches in the south Armagh area, leading to the arrest of two men, aged 47 and 34, on suspicion of theft and fraud by false representation. The men have been released on bail pending further inquiries. Additionally, a number of items, including cash and mobile phones, were seized for forensic examination.

Gardai also carried out searches in the Monaghan area and seized plant machinery as part of the investigation. The PSNI spokesperson emphasized the seriousness of the reports of fraud and encouraged anyone who believes they may be a victim or has information to come forward.

This proactive policing operation highlights the commitment of law enforcement to address fraudulent activities and protect the community from such crimes. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the police.
